8bitSquad is Daz Edwards: new games for old machines, written in BASIC the 1984 way, for the Commodore Plus/4, the C16 and the C64.

Daz's first machine was a Commodore 16. Escape from London was his first adventure, in 2013, and it is the first game rebuilt with ALF.

How we use AI

Designed, written and tested by Daz. Build tools, title artwork and music developed with AI assistance.

AI helps with the tools: the ALF Creator, the builder, the test bench, converting the title picture and arranging the music. The games, their stories, puzzles and words are Daz's own, and every game is tested on the machines it runs on.

Two games go further: Pub Team Manager 16 and the VIC-20 edition of Drug Wars were designed and tested by Daz, with his words, and their BASIC code was written with AI assistance. Every line was questioned, measured and played before it shipped.
